Health Care Trainings

The Coalition members and staff, who are experts in the field of domestic violence and work in the health care industry, offer free virtual or on-site trainings in Maryland to health care providers and allied professionals that address best practices in responding to abuse. Whether you are a concerned health care provider, an individual who has experienced intimate partner violence, or someone who has a friend or family member who has survived abuse, the Coalition has produced a variety of resources available to help. Materials include educational guides for providers, and outreach brochures for patients in many languages.

The Joint Commission recently published, Quick Safety: addressing intimate partner violence and helping to protect patients, a new information-piece for health care professionals. The piece outlines requirements and national recommendations for working with patients who are experiencing intimate partner violence, safety considerations during telehealth appointments, and more. Coalition releases statement on recent ipv fatalities in the maryland medical community

With great sadness, The Maryland Health Care Coalition Against Domestic Violence recognizes the tragic loss of three nurses in Maryland due to domestic violence. The victims, Tara Labang and Wendy Natalie Black, were shot and killed by their former partner, also a nurse, before he took his own life. [See article here.]
