The Maryland Health Care Coalition Against Domestic Violence brings to you the first segment of the “Health, IPV, and Guns Seminar Series,” presented by experts from the Johns Hopkins Center for Gun Violence Solutions and the National Extreme Risk Protection Order Resource Center. The seminar will focus on the intersection of intimate partner violence and gun violence as a public health issue, explore statewide and national trends,  discuss Extreme Risk Protective Orders (ERPOs) as a resource, and more.

The Maryland Health Care Coalition Against Domestic Violence brings to you a seminar presented by The Center on Partner-Inflicted Brain Injury at The Ohio Domestic Violence Network and the Brain Injury Association of Maryland, focused on enhancing services for intimate partner violence survivors with sustained traumatic brain injury.

Please join on October 30th as the Maryland Health Care Coalition Against Domestic Violence presents a screening of “The Last Drop,” in honor of Domestic Violence Awareness Month. Following the screening, there will be a discussion with Adam Joel,Writer and Director of the film, and survivor of relationship abuse.

The Last Drop is a 30-minute sci-fi film about a young woman and her boyfriend exploring their past with a device that lets couples relive shared memories— but when their journey reveals overlooked signs of abuse, she must wake herself up to escape. Watch the trailer here.

Domestic violence victims experience terrible and traumatic physical violence—often directed at the head, neck and face—through blows to the head or strangulation. We are just beginning to recognize that this violence can cause brain injuries that impact every area of a person’s life– including their ability to successfully access and participate in your agency’s services. Come to learn more about what we learned in Ohio and how to use CARE, an evidence-based framework with free, practical tools to help you raise awareness on brain injury as a significant, long lasting consequence of domestic violence.

Please join in as the Maryland Health Care Coalition presents this virtual seminar on alternative modalities of healing for survivors of intimate partner violence (IPV), with a panel discussion from practitioners in the field including Ballet After Dark, TALMAR Horticultural Therapy Center, HopeWorks of Howard County, and others. Modalities such as dance therapy, art therapy, therapeutic horticulture and more will be discussed.
