Dear Hospital Advocate,
I’m not sure if you will remember me. You saw me at the hospital a few months back with the Social Worker. I was in there for preterm labor secondary to abuse. I think I was 34 weeks pregnant. Nonetheless, I wanted to reach out to you and let you know what a huge impact you made on me. You gave me so many resources that helped me throughout the way. I think at the time, I was so overwhelmed, but I wanted to say thank you for everything.
I left and went back home to him with much reluctance. The next day, he started in again in a drunken abusive tirade. I left the house the next morning because I had an OB follow up. I left there and went to the courthouse and filed charges. They removed him from the house for two weeks. During this time, I gathered all my stuff and ran. I went back home in another part of the state.
I had my son. He’s seven months old. His father has seen him maybe twice. I got a job, I got a vehicle. I’m going to school for my masters. We are surviving. I don’t think I would have been able to do it without your help.
I am hoping to help even just one person in the way you helped me.
Thank you again for everything. I wish I had had the chance to tell you in person.
Sincerely,
Former patient and grateful survivor
