Join the Maryland Health Care Coalition Against Domestic Violence for a seminar presented by Cheryl Stahl, LPCC-S, Substance Use/Mental Health Program Director at the Ohio Domestic Violence Network, designed to provide participants with a deep understanding of mental health challenges and practical techniques for using Motivational Interviewing (MI) to support individuals in making positive changes.
Through a combination of theory, and interactive exercises, attendees will learn how to effectively engage with individuals experiencing mental health struggles, foster a non-judgmental, empathetic space, and empower them to explore and resolve ambivalence toward change.
Key learning outcomes include:
- Understanding the basics of common mental health issues and their impact on behavior.
- Exploring the principles and spirit of Motivational Interviewing.
- Building skills in using MI techniques to enhance motivation and promote behavioral change.
- Strengthening communication strategies to support individuals in their mental health journey.
